Political Science Internship Opportunities for Spring 2010

ASKINS FOR GOVERNOR

The Askins for Governor campaign is currently accepting applications for internships! Interns will work closely with Lt. Governor Jari Askins and her campaign staff to cover a wide range of responsibilities.

Potential duties include field and event planning, social networking, assist fund raising efforts, website maintenance, general office work, database building and research. A strong work ethic and interest in public service is highly encouraged.

Superb communication skills and basic computer knowledge are a plus! University credit in conjunction with the internship will be offered; work schedules are flexible as is location. Remote internships are available for rural students.

THE JOURNAL RECORD

The Journal Record Legislative Report (JRLR) is looking for a few really sharp interns for the upcoming legislative session.

We will:
  • Work with your class schedule.
  • Give you "real" professional experience, and not just mindless tasks.
  • Give you the opportunity to build your portfolio with published materials.
  • Provide you the opportunity to interact with:
    • Legislators and state officials
    • Legislative Staff
    • Lobbyists
    • Reporters
  • Offer a letter of recommendation for those who excel during the internship.

Interns will gain parks & recreation experience in: Program and event planning/promotion/execution, departmental marketing, grant writing, research studies, working in a variety of recreation facilities and many other things.

  • Must be currently enrolled in an appropriate program at a college or university.
  • Internship must satisfy an academic requirement
  • Must have at least a 2.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Must have at least a junior-class standing
